Disappointing Career

Ian is a decent talent; he can be a leading man (The Vampire Diaries, Marco Polo, etc), a villain (The Tournament), or a character actor (Lost, Life as a House, Changing Hearts, etc).

But why the f-ck isn't he as ubiquitous as the annoyingly ubiquitous Channing Tatum?! Ian should be having Tatum's career right now. He is obviously more charming and talented than Tatum.

I understand that he has a hit show, but that shouldn't keep him from doing more films. His agent/publicist could do better than this. Ian's career is disappointing.

Did you ever consider that maybe he has other interests outside of acting that he pursues?

What? His foundation? I'm starting to think he's not really into acting.

I think he cares more about his foundation than acting. He has to work in order to make his foundation work. Vampire diaries has made him into the celebrity he is now and he's able to bring attention to his causes because of it

And what do you do for a living I wonder Varla? ....hmmm.....shall we guess?

I am sure he doesn't think his career is bad....I'd personally rather have his 'career' than the one I currently have. Bet you do too.

I agree. Vampire Diaries only gets about 1 million viewers in the US, so he better get all the exposure he can now, I don't see him getting any film offers. He would have been better off if they hadn't written him off Lost, his net worth is only 4 million, whereas the rest of the cast are worth $15-20 million, it's a shame they got rid of him on Lost, he always seems to regret it too from the way he always brings it up.

Only 4 mill eh....such a shame....bet he cries himself to sleep at nights...

Still 4 mill more than you I bet ;)

Sure, 4 million sounds like a lot to us average Joe's, but, believe me, in the world of show biz he's practically a pauper. Look at how many celebrities who are multi-millionaires go bankrupt, hopefully he leads a modest lifestyle and isn't the mansion with 20 cars type, because that money can go very quickly.

And, yes, I do believe he has regrets about Lost. He showed up at the reunion and barely let anyone else get a word in edgewise, even though he was only on the show for one season! He clings on to his association with that show for dear life because he knows Lost is a classic that will be remembered for generations to come and he'll never get a role like that again.
