MovieChat Forums > Jussie Smollett Discussion > Indicted on 16 Felony Counts

Will be convicted on zero felony counts. Sad, really because he tried to jump start a race war in America. That should at least be a life sentence.

I tend to disagree. Each of the 16 counts carries a maximum of 4 years.
Chicago power players do not look kindly upon having their already troubled city look even worse and may choose to make an example of him.
I'm not defending Jussie just providing a bit more clarity to the public information. See below:

The new charges against Smollett each carry a potential sentence of probation to three years if convicted. Realistically, though, Smollett is unlikely to be convicted on more than a fraction of the charges. Most Cook County criminal cases are resolved through plea bargains in which a defendant pleads guilty to one and, rarely, two counts of an indictment in return for a favorable sentence. Only by going to trial do most defendants run the real risk of being convicted of more than one or two counts. Even in the worst case scenario of conviction on multiple counts, any jail sentences would almost certainly be ordered served concurrently.

And like most criminal court cases punishment isn't always as severe as some would like.

He's a racist (bad), but a liberal Democrat (good). He'll get a slap on the wrist and should the unthinkable happen (justice), the next Dem pres will pardon him.

Correction:

He's a racist (bad) because he's a LIEberal Democrat (the most intrinsically racist of people in America). So racist, in fact, that he was willing to blame Trump supporters for his fake hate crime with the possibility of two white males going to prison for it, which he was perfectly fine with.

with the possibility of two white males going to prison for it
What two white males?

No specific individuals were framed or wrongly connected to the alleged offences, and in view of the threshold needed to convict an individual of a crime, it's highly unlikely that anyone would have gone to prison for Jussie's lies.

No, the problem isn't the justice system. It's the court of public opinion. It's the judges and jury of Twitter we most have to worry about.

Sure, but where does he identify any specific individuals?

That’s gonna leave a mark!

Still never identified any specific individuals. You think two random white guys were gonna get locked up?

You seriously need some reading comprehension lessons.
