Something clearly happened but I'm not convinced of the story. Apart from sounding somewhat sketchty at face value(anti hay racists hanging outside at 2 AM in sub zero temperatures with a noose & bleach & also conveniently aware he's homosexual,commemsing with appropriate slurs), Smollet is a homosexual man & an LBGTQ activist.

There also currently just so happens to be a proposed "anti lynching" legislation that draws on the long history of racist anti black lynchings in America but is being pushed primarily to include special LBGTQ protections & interests. It just seems very convenient a black(biracial) homosexual & lbgtq activist to be allegedly attacked in such a politically convenient way.

So yes I suspect this could be a publicity stunt/politically motivated hoax to help get pro lbgtq legislation passed. It's not like this sort of thing hasn't been done before by lbtq enthusiasts

If it turns out to be a hoax, it's more likely to be motivated by a desire for publicity than political goals.

He's an actor, for chrissakes.

It's only to independently verify he was on the phone. It has nothing to do with the case or its evidence.

Nothing to do with the case? If he did allow them to verify, his story would be more credible. So what reason did he have to refuse? His manager deleted the Tweet claiming he was on the phone with Jussie after the camera footage came out which shows that Jussie wasn't on the phone.

Yes, it has nothing to do with the case or the evidence. Him being on the phone or not has zero bearing on the crime and the investigation.

Jussie's credibility is irrelevant at this point. If it turns out to be a hoax, then it will hurt his credibility in the FUTURE.

You're just looking for "holes" with a fine-toothed comb because you're in denial about Donnie's Deplorables.

Do you ever turn this powerful skepticism and fine-toothed comb toward Trump and his compulsive lying behavior?

Even the hate crime that our hate crime law is based on was a hoax. Matthew Sheppard was a drug dealer killed by other drug dealers who were themselves homosexual. They signed a gag order in exchange for no death penalty.

Jussie Smollette could admit this was a hoax and you would say he's not credible. He wouldn't go to jail, and the media would continue blood libel against Trump supporters just like with Covington. Hillary lost. Get over it.

Um, he's the one who claimed the incident happened at all. His credibility is far from irrelevant. You're saying if it turns out that he lied about being on the phone with his manager (who claimed to have heard "MAGA" over the phone), that that would be completely irrelevant? Get real lol. That's not exactly running through things with a fine-toothed comb. That's just avoiding a gut emotional reaction to a headline, and not automatically believing anything anyone says when there is no evidence.

Trump should be revealed whenever he says something false, as well as anyone with influence (or anyone at all, really). I'm not a Trump supporter, if that's what you're getting at.

I suspect Smollett's hope and the hope of most of the people who false flag"anti gay" attacks is for the concocted "incident" to remain "unresolved" so the narrative can carry on. Sure many will be skeptical but others including the mainstream media and certain sectors of social media will choose to believe and propagate the "Anti Gay (& to a lesser degree racist) attack" narrative.

Very predictably and conveniently this "incident" is already being used to bolster socio political discourse & support regarding the legislation of the newly proposed lbgtq flavored "anti lynching" bill.

The Chicago news headlines read:
POLICE INVESTIGATING WHETHER JUSSIE SMOLLETT STAGED ATTACK WITH HELP OF OTHERS, ALLEGEDLY BEING WRITTEN OFF 'EMPIRE'

This story never added up from the beginning and so many people saw through it immediately.

It seem the only police lead was two Nigerians, one who worked on set. Police found bleach at their place!

UPDATED WITH POLICE STATEMENT: Chicago police are pushing back on media reports that said the alleged attack on “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett was a hoax and say the reports are “unconfirmed by case detectives.”

Two Chicago media outlets reported Thursday that multiple sources told them that investigators believe the attack was staged.

Charlie De Mar, a reporter at CBS Chicago, spoke on Thursday with family members of the two men who were being questioned. They told De Mar that the men are brothers from Nigeria. They left for Nigeria on the day of the attack, De Mar reported. De Mar posted a search warrant receipt, showing that investigators had found a laptop, shoes, and bleach at the home.

CBS Chicago also quoted Gloria Schmidt, an attorney for the two men, who confirmed that they know Smollett.

“They do know Jussie,” she told the station. “They have worked with him on ‘Empire.’ My preliminary investigations show that on set it’s very tight. They’re all very cordial with each other, so they’re baffled why they are people of interest.”

Why would you want it to be true that a bunch of racist thugs beat up a gay black man?!? Bizarre.

It's as weird as those people who want rape and sexual assault accusations to be true. Anyone who says that they want those accusations to be true is basically saying "I'd prefer x to have been viciously abused in the worst possible way, rather than have x simply be making things up".

How anyone call seriously call themselves a 'progressive' and prefer an act of violence to have occurred over a mere lie is beyond me...

But then again, a lot of modern 'progressives' seem to actually prefer people to be raped and racially abused if it helps their narrative. Personally, I'd rather people weren't raped or racially abused. I know...I'm 'weird' like that...

The point is not hoping he was lying despite being skeptical because the story was sketchy from the beginning and therevare numerous cases of activists staging anti gay hate crimes to influence socio political discourse and legislation on lbgtq issues

One high-profile case does not make 'numerous cases of activists staging anti gay hate crimes'.

Of course, I'd love them all to be staged, because it's better than the alternative (the alternative being that people were being genuinely victimised and abused because of their sexuality), but the sad truth is that gay and trans men and women, and people of colour, are susceptible to very real violence by homophobes, transphobes, and racists.

I just hope that if this case does turn out to be a hoax, the real bigots do not feel the urge to carry out a real act of hate crime.

You guys are missing the real intent of lyin' Jussie's fictitious lynchin' party. It was not meant to raise "anti-gay" awareness like some other hoaxes have been. lt was an anti-Trump, and more generally anti-white people, hoax. There was nothing righteous in his motivations. It looks to be based on Jussie's racism and political leanings, and whatever personal gain or distractions that came of it.

This hoax was raised to make MAGA-cap wearers look bad or (depending on how you lean politically) even worse.

That's why it's in the interests of white Republicans to go easy on Jussie and forgive him.

Demonstrate that his narrative is completely wrong. Nothing would piss him and fellow Cultural Marxists in the media off more. Starve them of the faux-outrage, anti-white/anti-Trump, clickbait they so desperately feed off.

Incorrect. As i pointed out in my other thread this lbgtq hoax directly helped pass the new lbgtq anti lynching bill that was "coincidentally" being pushed by senator Kamala Harris who
Smollett has also "coincidentally" directly campaigned with.

Using phantom anti gay, white supremacist Trump supporters was merely a means to that end. Mission accomplished
