Is he?
If having a hot wife, a net-worth of $60 million, your own 12 acre private residence with built in post-production facilities and a platform to write and direct whatever movie you want, regardless of how preposterous an idea it might be, then I'd be pretty happy being a "joke" like him.
Then again, I'm not sure what's so funny about having directed one of the biggest blockbusters of the 90s and been nominated for two Oscars before the age of 30. I think that's one of those once in a lifetime achievements that would sustain your emotional well being for your entire life, right?
Surely the joke is on people like you? Desperate internet losers who have done nothing and can only validate their own pointless existence by sniping at people they've never met from behind a computer screen!
Right, because The Last Airbender, The Happening, The Village and Signs were such amazing cinematic masterpieces.

You just got owned and that's your response? Can't say I'm surprised.
shareI completely agree! His movies are just terrible
shareOk why don't you tell me what is so great about the happening and the last airbemder? I'm waiting.......
His movies are riddled with plot holes, have no story, the twists are lame, and the acting is deplorable.

Everyone is certainly entitled to their own opinion to like whatever they please, even if it's M. Night's more recent disappointments that have turned most people off of his films. Even though his movies have been critically panned by most as of late, they still somehow make money, so obviously someone out there still thinks he's profitable. Otherwise, studios wouldn't keep hiring him. I myself have not paid to see one of his films since 2008's The Happening(I purposely avoided Lady in the Water after hearing other people call it one of the worst films they've ever seen), and so it was too with The Happening.
Just to put his career in perspective, back around '02 with the hit from Signs, M. Night was huge and was even touted on the cover of Newsweek as "The Next Spielberg." Now, studios downplay his name in the advertisements for his own films because it scares most people away. That says it all about M. Night. He started off great, but just kept getting more and more ridiculous with his attempts at "crazy twists". Now people regard him as a one trick pony that's used up all his clout he once had. Kind of sad really. I was a fan of the guy 10+ years ago. It happens. Even if he makes another movie in the league of Signs and Sixth Sense, people will still avoid his films. He lost respect as a serious filmmaker years ago.
This Paint By Numbers life is *beep* with my head once again.
The Happening was just horrible. After Earth was an abomonation, a perfect cinematic abortion. I'd still like to see this guy come back. He had such promise when he started out, and I'm probably one of four or five people on the planet who liked The Village and Lady in the Water.
shareThe Visit and now Split were awesome movies.
Lose the Game!!!!!!!
