Very Versatile Character Actor

I like him a lot, but I rarely recognize him when I see a movie or TV show with him in it for the first time. He’s an actor, not a movie star. He becomes the role. Once I do recognize him, usually by cheating with IMDb or bringing up the on-screen credits, I start to see his trademark wit and brains inside of his characterization. What a shame that almost all the topics in this discussion have nothing to do with his art and too much to do with his alleged political views and his private life. That’s very disappointing.

Yeah, super talented actor. I first ran into him with Underworld, but came to realize what a robust career he's had as I saw more of him over the years, past and present. As you said, he truly becomes the roll. But moviechat is moviechat. Whenever I dug around though back then, he was definitely well-regarded as an actor. He does have his own fanbase, I think.
