The Perfect Riddler

Forgive me if this has been suggested before and therefore full props to the original poster but after doing some IMDB surfing, I just think the part would be perfect for Michael.

The reasons why it would work are as follows:

1. Michael is incredibly thorough with his research and acting method. He will produce a very justified portrayal of The Riddler, not some Disney-esque comedy version like Carrey.

2. He looks different. He's not the hero-idol mould and he's not the incredibly ugly-villain mould. He's got that intelligent villain look.

3. He's not the biggest star in the world so instead of having "a name" like DiCaprio or WIll Smith who wouldn't dare do anything brave like the Late Heath Ledger did with Joker, Sheen would want to out-do Ledger (not publically, but ambition-wise) to further his career as a great actor.

4. Before anyone complains about him not being American or anything similar, see his movies, he can do any accent you want better than anyone else so no hating!

Anyways, discuss?

I'm not a Batman or comic book expert, but I think he should do bigger profile movies. It would be great if he were considered for stuff like this. He should be considered for a lot of stuff. Hard to know why some actors hit it big and others don't.

He would be a good choice

As much as I love Michael Sheen, I don't believe him to be arrogant to want to 'out-do' Ledger's Joker. Heath showed us what was possible and we were equally on the edge of our seats riveted and yes, seduced.

If Michael had landed the role of the Riddler, he would most likely try to do the character justice. No one is looking for him to out-do Heath. Michael is an equally talented actor who would no doubt bring his A-game to the floor.

Now with that being said, The Riddler is a different character from The Joker. And as far I know, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been 'rumored' to be cast as Nolan's Riddler. Which makes sense because he did Nolan's captivating, "Inception" - so he trusts him now. I'm sure Joseph will be a credit to the Batman series as Heath paved the way for 'unlimited possibility'.

And FYI, I would never complain about an actor/actress not being American. I myself am an American. What's the big fricking deal anyway? Michael is talented as hell and has proven he can master an American accent ('Unthinkable'). I have been a fan of his for years. Why is that always an issue for some people? Talent is talent. And not for nothing, the first actor I ever crushed on was Gary Oldman. Y'know the only time I hear about an issue of whether or not an actor shouldn't be an American is for Harry Potter movies. Ofcourse the cast is going to be European. That's what we'd expect anyway.

Unfortunately, Nolan already squashed any Riddler rumors and Tom Hardy has an important role - so he's probably going to be the bad guy. But I DEFINITELY agree with you! Michael Sheen would have been a magnificent Riddler. Hell, he should just be in Batman. Whatever character they could throw at him in Batman he'd be stellar.

In this country, all Americans deserve equal rights… appletini.

Completely agree with OP.

When i watched him as castor in Tron, what i can immediately think of is riddler. It is perfect for him to have a role as riddler but it seems Nolan's choice of villain in dark knight rises is not likely to be him. A bit of a disappointment :(.

I just watched him in Tron: Legacy and the character of Castor is so much like the Riddler I could just see Sheen playing the part. He would make the perfect choice for the role.

He just needs to be in a batman movie pronto!
