Scouted for Arsenal
On the Graham Norton Show he said he was scouted by Arsenal at the age of 12 to join their youth academy but his dad refused to let him go for it. Very harsh in my opinion, though Sheen seems very humble about it all.
shareLife of a football player, especially one who starts so young, is quite challenging and draining, not to mention expensive for parents due to the costly gear and so forth. Many promising child athletes might also peter out before actually reaching the big leagues so it's a risky gamble. I'm not surprised if a parent doesn't allow their child to go down an athletic line, especially football.
