Did CGI kill Tom Savini?

When CGI came along, Tom Savini career fade off...

I know he's a douche bag at conventions

reply

He does have a poor reputation with many horror fans...i should add that he was in some Hellish situations during the Vietnam conflict so...i cut him a lot of slack for his service (id probably be freaked out and grouchy too)

As a pretty avid horror fan i must say i seek out the films with practical SFX...the CGI just looks stupid and super fake to me

I loved the spurting dummies and make up effects...
CGI stinks!

reply

That is why I love old horror movies 1920's up to 1990's...Filmmakers had to used their imagination with the camera.

When I watch silent films, I pay attention on how the trick was done..

reply

Exactly
American Werewolf in London is a case in point
We can pick apart the transformation scene effects...but there were real artists and an actor involved...it was perfectly frightening!

Savini's body of work in SFX easily rivals the CGI crap we get today
Savini is a legend

reply

Do they served coffee at the Slaugher Lamb?

reply

Doubt they did
Seemed mostly Ale and a Dartboard sort of place
Rough looking fellows too!
Lets have a few rounds and keep off The Moors on our way out of town😳

reply

What's that star on the wall for?

reply

To remember the Alamo
That film with John Wayne...Bloody awful if you ask me

reply

I don't think CGI is to be blamed. Probably Greg Nicotero did. He lifted makeup effects to the next level...
