Named after who...? Dad's choice?

Wyatt Earp came out 10 years after he was born...not likely named after it.

I for one was named after Wyatt Earp.

Wyatt Russell was born in 1986. "Tombstone" (where Kurt Russell played Wyatt Earp) came out in 1993. I think its likely that Kurt Russell may have indeed chosen the name for that reason. I'm not sure why skordi699 would think you were referring to the cheesy "Wyatt Earp" movie that starred Kevin Costner.

Are we not forgetting that Wyatt Earp is a REAL person not just a MOVIE. He was born in 1848 (thanks wikipedia:) a while before Mr Russell don't ya think...

"Tombstone" is an okay action-western, but "Wyatt Earp" is the superior film because its focus is more on Wyatt's character and how he was shaped by the events of his life. That was why Kevin Costner, who was originally attached to star in "Tombstone," decided to leave and make his own film, because he thought "Tombstone" was becoming too much of a generic shoot-em-up western. As much as I love Kurt Russell (he's my favorite actor), I have to say I find "Wyatt Earp" a much better movie than "Tombstone."

I have found very few people to agree with me on that opinion.
Tombstone was alright, but I enjoyed Wyatt Earp far more and still consider it to be one of my all-time favorite films. Though understandably the running time of just over 3 hours certainly would turn a lot of people off.

He was named after Wyatt Earp, but not for the reasons most people think. In a kind of irony Kurt's father Bing (who's full birth name is Neil Oliver Russell) played the part of Wyatt Earp in the late 50's television series called the Legend of Wyatt Earp. I think that's where the connection is. His brother Boston middle name is connect to Kurt father as well, his middle name is Oliver.
