I wonder if this was part of the reason why That 90s Show got cancelled?
I've heard that show sucked so it probably wasn't a big part.

The creators and writers will know that they don't need to offer any substance, that enough people will enjoy the nostalgia of it all.
but you could essentially do an hour special and call it that. these shows get canceled sooner or later for very reasons i just mentioned. no substances just "oh look!"
No. It was definitely the bad writing and poor concept. Same goes for that 80's show.
