Trivia: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
When Rowling introduced Harry Potter to the American markets, her American publisher talked her into changing the name of the first book to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone because he didn't think American audiences would be familiar with the original title. Since she was a new writer, she didn't think she had the clout to insist on keeping the title.
Years later she admitted she made a mistake because when she would go on book tours, she would consistently be asked by American audiences why she didn't just call it the Philosopher's Stone.
