Why doesn't medicine promote people with Body Integrity Identity Disorder

cut off their limbs? I mean, after all, they "feel" like they'd be better without them.

Yeah, I wondered about that sometimes, but as I don’t have much knowledge on the issue I can’t say for sure why they are regarded differently.

What I can’t wrap my head around are some non-binary people who when have their top surgery also remove their nipples.

https://www.genderconfirmation.com/no-nipples/

“Why Some Patients Decide No Nipples

There are many different reasons why someone may decide on a no nipple aesthetic when getting top surgery, and we’d like to share just a few we’ve seen at his practice:

- The patient doesn’t like how nipples look
- The patient feels having nipples and a flat chest looks too similar to a cisgender male chest
- The patient is gender neutral and feels that a no nipple aesthetic is congruent with their gender identity
- The patient doesn’t like how nipple grafts look
- The patient reports that the presence of nipples intensifies their dysphoria
- The patient wants 3D nipple tattoos instead of real nipples
- The patient doesn’t enjoy nipple sensation and would rather have them removed in order to not experience that”

I understand trans people need for gender confirmation surgeries, and I understand there is a third gender as some people are born intersex.

But I think even intersex people have nipples.

I know a person who was born intersex but they assigned her sex to be female and she had a surgery, I don’t know the details but probably as a baby or small child. She is quite butch woman and is a lesbian, and I know she needs to take female hormones. Her boobs are small but she has nipples.

So, I really don’t get some non-binary people. As I understand there are some who don’t do any changes to their bodies, they just feel fluid and don’t want to conform to binary genders.

But if you want to remove your nipples, I would assume they also have body integrity identity disorder.

This reminds me of the horror movie American Mary (2012), there was a woman who looked like a Barbie...

...doll and also removed surgicaly her nipples, although she did have boobs. Not sure but she might even wanted to remove her vagina. It’s been a long time since I saw it so I might misremember.

It’s a horror movie about body modification surgeries.

So, now extreme body modification got me thinking about that Stalking Cat guy (RIP) the guy who modified himself into a tiger, and The Lizardman and the others... Do they have the same/similar disorder or are they just eccentric?

I don’t want to bash non-binary people, but I find those who want their nipples removed weird and that they do have psychological problem.

I think it is going too far. Maybe I’m just ignorant, I don’t know.

Ok, unfortunately there are also women who don’t have nipples but it wasn’t by choice exactly, it’s because of cancer.

So... it is confusing and interesting topic.

EDIT:

While I think that we as mammals should all have nipples regardless of gender and sex.

I must acknowledge that there are indeed some people born without them. I have just found out about this:

Athelia is a condition in which a person is born without one or both nipples. Although athelia is rare overall, it's more common in children who are born with conditions such as Poland syndrome, ectodermal dysplasia, progeria and Yunis-Varon syndrome.

You want to cut off body parts because of a feeling you have inside you, there's something wrong with you. I don't care if you have body integrity disorder or are trans; that shit isn't normal.

Hermaphrodites are COMPLETELY different. There's physical tangible proof of something not being quite right. They can do whatever they want with themselves, because it's a real tangible provable problem.

I know Intersex are different I just mentioned them (as I know one personally) because they are perceived as the third gender, same as non-binary people want to be perceived.

Also because I’ve seen in discussions when someone says there are only two genders or something along those lines; people usually have a comeback - what about people born intersex or with xxy chromosome.

It was just my insurance when talking about non-binary to make sure people know I am aware of intersex and xxy.

I just mentioned them in parallel to some people who are non-binary and feel the need to remove their nipples.

I wanted to say intersex people are born third sex but even they don’t have the need to remove them, even they are born with them (unless they also have some very rare disorder) so I don’t understand why non-binary folks want them removed. That seems like BIID to me.

That’s why I find some of that non-binary stuff really weird.

So I’ve came across this article about BIID, actually about Amputee Identity Disorder which falls under BIID category

https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/becoming-disabled-by-choice-not-chance-transabled-people-feel-like-impostors-in-their-fully-working-bodies

https://life.gomcgill.com/people-are-becoming-disabled-by-choice-and-they-are-called-transabled

They are called “Transabled” and they actually want to be disabled on purpose.

Some want to be blind, deaf, paraplegic, etc...

It’s really disturbing.

Stuff you find on the internet... 😂

Same reason doctors don't promote people with BDD to have surgery to feel more physically attractive.

Because there isn't a left-wing cult lobbying for such things.

reply

I don't know what BDD is.

The problem is that rational people recognize the desire to cut off a limb because you "feel like" you'd be better off without it is insane. It's a mental illness. But this trans stuff.... it's become political, so we're giving them what they want. Surgery is the preferred treatment option now.

body dysmorphic disorder

But yeah, in a few years (hopefully not too long), we're (well, the left when they catch up) going to look back at all this enabling nonsense in utter horror. Like child labour, racial segregation etc
