Haven't read either of you. Buy based your level of success I am going to say "No, you're not".
I realize sales is not a standard of talent and skill, but it is a measurement.
I do respect your attempt at marketing your fiction, tho.
Why is J.K. Rowling the standard by which you're judging yourself?
That would be like posting on the McDonald's board "I cook better than McDonald's" then including a link to the Yelp reviews for your food truck. Um, okay.
The average home cook can make a meal more appealing than McDonald's. Making the claim for yourself is mostly meaningless.
Edit: removed non-relevant question about other authors.
Dunno, honey. I just saw her name in Moviechat's recent posts and decided to promote my book this way. Are there pages about other authors too here?
shareThis is you writing better than Rowling:
Indeed he loves her. And who can blame him? She has the whole package. She's powerful but also beautiful. Fierce but also girlie. Tough but also sensitive. Self disciplined but also free spirited. She's the perfect woman. There is just one thing that is getting in the way. Superbia does not exist! She is the main character of an animated show. As much as he insists that she exists and they will be together someday. Past a point, he starts seeing her. Hearing her. Feeling her. Talking to her. Making love to her! Everybody believes that he suffers from schizophrenia. I mean, this has to be the case. Superbia is just a fictional superheroine. She can't be a real person. Right? RIGHT?
Sentence fragments can arguably make a story more poetic.
Misogynistic plot? Have you even read this, honey? Superbia is an unconventional superheroine. This is anything but misogynistic.
loser, are you 14?
shareI'm not following you.
shareI meant that your writing indicates to me that you are an adolescent.
That’s not a put down.
oof
shareI'm 33, though most people around me believe, for some reason, that I have the mentality of a teenager.
shareDo you play a lot of computer games?
shareNot anymore. By the way, if you want to learn stuff about me, you can also have a look at my blog...
https://lonesoulofmine.blogspot.com/
Do you live in your mother's basement ?
Ok, I’ve taken a look at your blog.
The farmer/circus joke was kind of cute but you lack the English language skills to be taken seriously as a writer, much less to proclaim that you are a better writer than the best selling author in the history of the human race.
I suggest taking an online English course for starters, better yet, take many. Then start with some Creative Writing courses. In these, you’ll be given assignments to read some truly great literature and hopefully it will all run off on you.
Good luck!
I make grammar mistakes? Can you state an example?
shareI’ll look later :)
shareAre you talking about Funny Joke Time? I reread it and there are some minor tense mistakes indeed, but I was just careless. It's kinda unfair to judge my language skills from a blog post I wrote in a relaxed mood, without expecting to gain anything from it.
shareSo what is an example of your finest writing? Please link!
shareWhen I write a novel, I'm serious and concentrated and double check everything. For example, it took me 2 months to finish the Superbia novel, despite it not being super long (53.000 words), exactly because I wanted to make sure there were no language mistakes. My English isn't perfect (though I keep practicing and improving every day), but I don't think that, after all that effort on my part, one will find in my books more than some minor error once in a blue moon. I hope you will give my novels a chance someday. Bye.
shareYou didn’t answer the question and effort doesn’t indicate brilliance.
shareI did answer. If you want to see the true extent of my writing skills, read my novels. Even if you don't feel like buying them, you can still read the 'look inside' sample on Amazon.
shareYou’re tedious. Hubris never made anyone great and it’s knocked down some of the most brilliant people who ever lived. Focus on improving yourself and lay off of the bragging.
shareWhen you say tedious, you mean my novels or this discussion? I really hope you mean the latter, lol.
In any case, I guess this discussion has dragged on for too long indeed.
I'm just trying to begin somewhere. I have no money for an ad campaign, so I'm trying to work with what I've got (sites, social media etc) What did you expect me to say? 'My novels are bad, don't get them'? I have to try something instead of just sitting on my butt.
If you ever read the 'look inside' sample of some novel of mine, come to my blog and give me feedback. I'm willing to improve and I'm open to advice, but I need something more specific than 'you lack skills, you're tedious etc'
Dude, good luck. Get some life experience, read every great novel ever printed, a thousand biographies, every important play, and then get back to me.
You’re a poseur.
Good for you.
When you sell 523 million books, come back to us.
I don't even understand why this thread is even allowed, it's some self promo bullshit. You want people to read your books to prove you're better than JK? Give some copies out for free to users of this site or shut the fuck up.
shareI’m sure your novels are wonderful, but seriously - those covers are dreadful, please rethink those right away.
shareYour work is utterly brilliant. You shouldn't be comparing yourself to a commercial hack like Rowling at all
Your writing is intense and innovative. You're much closer to Faulkner or Samuel Beckett, but I think even their stuff doesn't have the easy charm that your writing has
El Oh El
shareActually, I realized my novels can be improved, and I'm editing all of them these days. Can you wait a few months till I'm done? Then they will be true masterpieces.
