He was a great Superman, and had a striking resemblence to Christopher Reeve. He also played a great villain in Chuck. Shaw is my favorite bad guy in the entire series. He is such a good actor!

It's not that he can't act but... How to say it.. Sometimes actors are thrown into a role where they just aren't playing to their strengths. Most evident check out Affleck from around 98-2003..
Same here. After being cast in Returns. Great choice for the Reeves legacy.. But Singer sapped the fun out of it.. Was a bit too over wrought and serious..
This can be seen for Routh on "Chuck". His turn as Shaw started and ended great.. But the whole romantic triangle stuff in the middle was just BAD. But look at his supporting roles in films like Zack and Midi and Scott Pilgrim where he was great..
Hopefully he can pick projects that play more to his strengths.. Although I admit Chuck was difficult in that it had to play out over a longer arc than a film... So seeing that would be more difficult.
Still enjoy seeing him pop up and hope he continues to do so.
I think it's completely possible that he's the absolute worst actor alive...
