Net worth

I just read that his net worth is 20 million dollars! Good for him, but I wonder how he got it. He was paid just one million for superman and hasn't really had a career since then. He must have made some really good investments.

Wonder if it includes any likeness deals with the toy companies, Novels, t-shirts, etc? were the action figures big sellers? I just know, near me, in Los Angeles, I see them all the time at Big Lots and the dollar stores sitting on the shelf lonely.

If that's the case then I'm happy for him. I wasn't sure if he received any residuals from SR so I thought his biggest payday was the $1 million for playing Superman.

Anybody thinking this kid's worth 20 million, I got a bridge to sell ya.

Wow! Given the fact that Routh hasn't worked on a high-profile film in 8 years I didn't think he was worth half that much. But when you put it all together it does make sense. I'm certain he was signed to multiple film deal so he had to be bought out. And I'm sure he received some royalties from action figures, video games, etc. That and the fact that he's worked steadily since then on television and lower budget movies makes it believable.

Truthfully I always liked Routh as Superman. And I don't think I'd go as far as to say he's the Lazenby of his franchise. While Lazenby was almost universally hated during his short run, Routh had his share of supporters. It really wasn't his fault Superman Returns was a mess. Plus he was pretty much directed to imitate Reeve. He didn't really have a whole lot of elbow room.

He was signed for 3 movies total. When the sequel didn't happen WB paid him to terminate his deal. I'm not sure how many millions but I'd say around 12 million probably.

Source? I'm pretty sure you're wrong. What you are describing is a "Pay or Play" clause in a contract and it is only given to big stars. Routh was even further from a big star before SR came out.

Also, Routh said that his contract with the WB to play Superman lapsed which does not fit with your theory on them buying him out.
