Petition to prevent Mister Roger's face from appearing on MC's trending feature on the front page

In this current climate, when a friendly face from your youth brings you to nostalgia halcyonic bliss normally, seeing him appear in the trending bar on the front page of this site scares the bejeebas out of me and starts to associate what I consider to be good intentions as cynical snide ones instead.

I don't want to associate his face with that of Harvey Weinstein or anyone else of that ilk.

Sign below if you would like for it to be removed from general circulation.

Add your own names too if you feel that they are in no way connected to the massive subculture of perversion which is rearing its head within the entertainment industry just now.

Thanks!

reply

It makes more sense to get rid of Weinstein's photo.

reply

Not a bad point, not a bad point at all Glen!

What of the others accused, just play it safe and get rid of them too?

reply

It looks like it will be a long list, doesn't it? I don't know how it could be decided who gets dumped.

For the record, I am sick of seeing Manson's mug. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

reply

Yeah, I get the whole 48 hours thing with Charles Manson showing up after his death and I'm not against people bringing him up in conversation for whatever it is they are trying to say but for it to be so bare, and for so long, seems to be another example of exploitative celebrity deaths used for whatever means and I can't say I'm too happy with that.

People died. For really radical and still unfathomable values which can't be explained.

Both he and Weinstein could be excluded for all I care but I'm still curious as to how quickly, or rather why, we should exclude others who are accused of wrongdoings by the police force, military or wider media?

reply

Perhaps based on whether the alleged wrongdoings are illegal? I dunno.

reply

That requires police investigation and then courtroom action to determine that.

Mason got that but I can't think of anyone recently who has gone through due process to any effect which is comparable.

reply

Not necessarily those that have made it to court, but IF true, are illegal?? Like I said, I don't know where you draw the line. Slippery slope. I'm sure there are plenty of illegal acts that never make it to court. And what about people who have settled rather than have it become known? Very slippery indeed.

reply

I'm all about not seeing faces how up in trending during the precarious time of allegation.

People react emotively and some might be stuck in a mindset which isn't healthy for them.

Just things I think we should consider is all.

We are approximately 45 min away from the 50th anniversary of the Mr.Rogers Show!!! I would recommend instead of banning his photo on trending, to instead put nothing but Fred's picture up!!! I am sure there are enough photos of him to fill every spot with a different sweater.πŸ‘πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

reply

I would go so far as to say we change the name of the site to RogersChat and exclusively speak about subjects related to him (And off-topic of course).

reply

I find it ironic that every time some signs this 'petition', it causes Mister Roger's face to appear on MC's trending feature on the front page.

Oops, I did it again.

reply

I hope Fred Rogers has been fully vetted. I would hate to look forward to seeing the Tom Hanks flick only to hear accusations of sexual misconduct/ molestation. I watched his show as a kid, loved the make believe land and daniel tiger and king Friday and all that. They say never meet yours heroes. Would hate for him to be spoiled.

reply

This post makes absolutely no sense. You really think MC is going to change their algorithm to exclude Fred Rogers?

I cannot even comprehend what you're trying to say:

..seeing him appear in the trending bar on the front page [...] starts to associate what I consider to be good intentions as cynical snide ones instead..

What does that even mean? "Cynical snide intentions". Your choice of words baffles me.
