Swiss Army Man Reviews

First one is actually positive.
...by turns enchanting, irritating, juvenile and yet oddly endearing feature debut...

..Radcliffe is particularly deserving of praise with an astonishingly controlled physical performance, holding his face in an uneven rictus for long stretches of screen time and executing challenging contortions. It may set a new high bar in annals of corpse acting.

And I can't tell whether this is positive or not, but at least the critics so far are treating it seriously and thoughtfully.

And a rave for Dan in this one. Positive as well.

The skill required to convincingly portray a lifeless corpse for the film’s first act cannot be overstated, and Radcliffe does a tremendous job acting as a foil opposite Hank, who’s dragging him around as if he were a motionless companion. But Radcliffe’s work becomes even more impressive when Manny begins to potentially show signs of something resembling life, though to say more would spoil some of the film’s more fun surprises.

This one is a C- which isn't bad for Indiewire where I have rarely read a good review.

This one doesn't like the movie but calls Dan a "standout"

Sundance : Daniel Radcliffe's Farting Corpse Movie Prompts Walk-Outs

"The movie could win the festivals award for the most walk-outs,
as a continuous stream of audience members kept standing up and bolting
for the door throughout the film.

Uh-Oh.

Dan's getting some great reviews and I really like that it's the type of film that could be quite befuddling. Too many critics these days are sheep.

Do you have any talents?
Well, I'm an Alcoholic.

reply

Ya I am not complaining. We knew the film would absurd and not for everyone. Glad Dan is getting great reviews. I hope he does do less extreme films. I am still down for this though, sounds like a good time to me. Really looking forward to Imperium more then anything right now.

Added a few more.

Added that Sarah. Thanks.

It's too bad the first take from the movie has been all the walk outs. Really curious to see how this gets released, it was obviously going to go mostly non theatrical, but now I wonder if it will just be a film festival curiousity.

reply

I think it would be great if Netflix or Amazon pick it up. It's quite clearly not going to do big box office.

I was so worried when the first tweets started coming in about people walking out, so it's been great reading all the reviews and reactions today.
