I've Never Seen Harry Potter

The books didn't interest me. My niece was obsessed with the movies, so I watched chunks of them with her when we were all vacationing together. But again, not interested.

So my experience with Daniel Radcliffe has all been with his post-Potter work, and it's probably a good thing. I loved A Young Doctor's Notebook, which might have been the first work of his I've seen. Actually, looking at his filmography, it might have been the only other thing I've seen him in. But when I've seen he was in a film, such as Kill Your Darlings or Frankenstein, my interest has been piqued. Radcliffe is a very gifted actor.

He completely blew me away in Swiss Army Man! An amazing performance, conveying so much through such limited perimeters. The way he and Paul Dano worked together was a thing of beauty.

Writing this, I remembered that I saw him on Broadway in "How To Suceed in Business Without Really Trying" and he killed it! Here's a link to a number performed on the Tony Awardshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69WpCBLrdSQ

So I'm glad I didn't see him that much as Harry Potter.

I've always known him as Harry Potter and was never impressed with his acting. However, in the sixth Harry Potter movie, he drinks "liquid luck" and becomes a different person and I knew he had it in him to be a good actor. I'm watching the "young doctors botebook" series now and am rather impressed. I think he's truly got it in him and I wish him all the best in his pursuant as an actor.

Keep watching! Too bad you haven't seen some of his stage work. He just gets better and better...Privacy saw him do improv - different each night. Stage is where he gets his strength and inspiration as an actor, I'm thinking. I do hope he brings R&G over from London as I can't get over there for his next stage turn.

In fact, his performance in Privacy was much appreciated: scroll down (they are in strict alphabetical order):

Thanks! I'll look at some of the clips. He really is an interesting actor.

I agree! (Never liked Harry Potter movies or he in them as a type - but just saw too movies from them).
But his work after Harry Potter is really good! He's not my type of 'man' you know, but he is really a good and gifted actor!
Saw him last night on iTunes (Germany) in SWISS ARMY MAN and I was blown away from that performance (strange movie but good anyway). So I'm really glad that he found his way of playing other characters - and I like these more than the Potter-thing... ;)

i can proudly say i skipped ALL those films. it just doesn't appeal to me

...

but man the HYPE was real

I like the HP films, but in regard to his ability as an actor, you aren't missing much. He's clearly not at his best in these films. But a lot of his post Potter filmography is good and I would call him talented.

The Harry Potter films, along with Lord of the Rings, and the C.S. Lewis adaptations feature a lot of theatrically trained actors and actresses who already had an established and critically acclaimed career. It's annoying when millennians and zillennials look at someone like Richard Harris, Ian Holm or Maggie Smith and only see a Wizard, a Hobbit or a Witch.
