... of those Anglican ministers involved in these Coronation services.

It's a weird concept. They are men of god, yet they are willfully (and yes, I am aware of the establishment of the Anglican church itself) preaching upon the concept of a king being on a higher plane / closer to god and such a status being worth celebrating, whilst knowing full well this has no place in the religious texts they supposedly believe in and celebrate as "the truth"...

How do they reconcile this seeming betrayal in their minds? Or do they do so at all? Do they secretly believe the worship of a king to be a fraud but still have strong religious faith? Or do they not really believe in anything at all?

There are religions, and there are organised religions or religious organisations, they sound similar, but I think they are completely different things.

Religions are about faith, religious organisations like any other organisations are about politics, wealth and power.

So are you saying you don't think any Anglican minister can be a true man / woman of faith?

(I think this is what I was questioning myself in the OP)

They could still be, they might think it is a compromise with political power for the benefit of their organisation or their motives could be as pure as to benefit the believers.

But to say they believe what they do is in keeping with their faith, no way. In every possible scenario they know what they do is committing fraud.

But just like they changed the birthday of Jesus Christ from Summer to December, if they can celebrate Christmas with a straight face, of course they can do this.

Kings were intermediaries. Between the gods and the populace. The kings/queens were descendant from the gods. So the myths go. So what happened today, and what was said is pretty accurate.

I just think it's down to centuries of tradition, when they were most likely to more believe this centuries ago but keep it around now because it's so established and, as I said, traditional and also exceedingly formal.

In any case, it's just a ceremony, albeit that many people see as important but others not so, but this coronation, as an example, is just down to British "pomp and circumstance".

If you listened to the service, they made clear that the job of king is one of service to the people. Just like Christ, a job of helping others

Ha! A fun analogy but kind of flawed in that the point was the minister can have faith to believe in their god but absolutely knows there's nothing from the basis of that first belief to entertain an elevated heavenly status for Prince Charles...

Maybe believing in unicorns and lizard people was the way to go!
