shareJust so you know the guy who fired the gun was a 23 years old Asian (South Korean) Australian university student. The 2 shots fired were blanks from a starter pistol.
He claimed doing that was in protest at the treatment of several hundred Cambodian asylum seekers held in detention camps in Australia, which had nothing to do with the British monarchy, everything to do with Australian politics.
Australian strong gun law reforms only happened after 1996 of Port Arthur Massacre, in 1994 gun laws were pretty lax in Australia. So it is not like he could not get a gun.
But I think he was lucky he was not shot by police.
Later he was sentenced to 500 hours of community service.
Later he finished his study and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology from Macquarie University, and got into business school of UTS and graduated with a MBA, then went to Sydney Law School, which was the best law school in Australia, and graduated with honors. Despite found guilty of a crime, he passed the bar became a lawyer.
So that was not a dumb guy, this all in all is quite interesting.
