According to The Sunday Times, the FBI is aggressively expanding its efforts in a bid to identify and speak with additional Epstein victims over the course of the next two months. It’s believed those alleged sexual trafficking victims could provide new and potentially incriminating information on the Duke of York.

Dai Davies is Scotland Yard’s former head of royal protection and he personally oversaw Prince Andrew’s protection during the 90s. He said it was in the “public interest” for authorities to investigate Prince Andrew now since London police previously shuttered an investigation based on claims made by Giuffre in 2015.

That source continued: They are not going to dismiss it [claims relating to Andrew] because he is a royal.

The FBI and prosecutors with the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York contacted Prince Andrew's lawyer to interview the prince about Jeffrey Epstein, but they have provided "zero" cooperation, according to US Attorney Geoffrey Berman.

In November, Britain's Prince Andrew said he was "willing to help any appropriate law enforcement agency with their investigations, if required" after he appeared on the BBC and was questioned about his relationship to Epstein and allegations he had sexual encounters with an underaged girl.

"It's fair for people to know whether Prince Andrew has followed through with that public commitment," Berman said at a news conference Monday outside of Epstein's Manhattan mansion.

"To date Prince Andrew has provided zero cooperation."

BBC royal correspondent Jonny Dymond said the BBC had confirmed the reports that the US authorities had submitted a mutual legal assistance (MLA) request to the Home Office - although this has not been confirmed by the US Department of Justice or the UK Home Office.

Under the terms of a MLA request if Prince Andrew does not voluntarily respond, he can be called to a UK court to answer questions.

In a statement, the legal team said: "The Duke of York has on at least three occasions this year offered his assistance as a witness to the US Department of Justice (DoJ)".

"Unfortunately, the DoJ has reacted to the first two offers by breaching their own confidentiality rules and claiming that the duke has offered zero co-operation. In doing so, they are perhaps seeking publicity rather than accepting the assistance proffered."

The senior US prosecutor investigating links between Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein has vowed to carry on with his enquiries despite a dramatic attempt by the Trump administration to force him to resign.

In a late-night announcement on Friday, US attorney general William Barr declared Geoffrey Berman was stepping down, a development seen by critics as designed to benefit Trump politically and challenge the independence of the Justice Department.

But it also comes at a delicate time in the inquiry led by Berman, the US attorney in Manhattan, into Prince Andrew’s links to convicted sex offender Epstein.
