Someone is out to destroy his career?

As many have heard, there is a rumor that Michael Pitt was fired from Boardwalk Empire. There were rumors that he was always coming to work late, that he would often arrive high/drunk, he was getting into fights with his co-workers, and forgetting lines. But, I came across something very interesting that I haven't heard.

I heard that the producers of BE wanted to write him out of the show, because Jimmy Darmody was more popular than Steve Buscemi's Nucky Thompson. Since they knew most people preferred to watch Jimmy's storylines instead of Nucky's, Buscemi and the producers were not happy about this. Which is why they decided to write Pitt out to make the lead more interesting. I also heard that Pitt & Buscemi butted heads on set. Pitt supposedly called Buscemi a hack. Buscemi demanded that he should be fired, and the producers agreed.

If this rumor is true, I wonder if Winter & Buscemi's team might have hurt him, underhandedly? It might explain why all of a sudden stories of Pitt being difficult were "leaked from 4chan." And also how the story of his agency "firing" him made it to Deadline.

I think this is possible, because his career has been stunted since he left the show. It does seem that his reputation isn't great within the industry. I really hope he doesn't have powerful enemies.

Honestly, I've never really looked into these stories, do you have any credible sources where someone spoke badly about Pitt's behaviour?

To me, Michael seems too professional to call another actor a hack.

I guess it could be possible that he has an enemy within Hollywood that's stunting his career, or he could just be very particular in his acting choices. I mean, he did a get a role in the Ghost in the Shell movie, which surprised me, because that is the first mainstream movie, I have seen him in years.

Well, I wouldn't say the sources that I have are credible. I read this on the Tapatalk and Reddit forums for Boardwalk Empire. There were a few posters who said they knew people who worked on the show who claimed that the rumors were a slandering tactic done by Pitt's enemies.

It would be nice if I were actually on the set of BE, so I could verify the hack comment & other supposed issues.

Though I will say this...Steve Buscemi does seem like a shady person. For the longest I couldn't put my finger on it until I saw him low key making fun of Paz de la Huerta. It was during the BE cast's acceptance speech for the 2011 SAG award, and Paz took over the mic. She was obviously drunk/high and Steve was laughing at her alongside the other cast members. You could see him making potshots about her with Shea Whigham & Anthony Laciura behind Paz's back.

Yes I know Ms. de la Huerta is a mess, but there was something about that that didn't sit well with me. I considered that to be quite unprofessional.

Choosing roles in forgettable movies like Ghost in the Shell and bit parts in a Hannibal show (then getting recasted too) is exactly the reason why methinks.
His shining moment truly was in BE and he was the star of that show.

reply

It could be the reason why he keeps getting cast in movies like these is because he's black-listed.

Wouldn't he get no noticeable roles at all if that was the case?

Hi Michael! Nice try
