Not Very Good in Boardwalk Empire

I don't think he's a bad actor, but he's not particularly good either (this is the only movie or show I've ever seen him in). In my opinion, he is miscast as a war hero. For one thing, he looks like he is about 15 years old in the show. Also, he doesn't really look (or seem to genuinely act) tough or menacing so it's kinda hard for me to accept him as a ruthless, cold-blooded killer/ganster. Maybe that's because his acting wasn't good-- I don't know because there has only been one episode so far.

I know this is the Michael Pitt board so most of you will probably disagree with me here; I'm not attacking anyone who likes his work, I'm just stating my opinion based on the one episode of the one thing I've ever seen him in. His acting just seemed kinda wooden to me.

Who knows? Maybe his acting will grow on me when I see more episodes. If that happens, I'll recant this post...but as of now, I'm not impressed.

I get what you're saying, his acting in the show wasn't his strongest work, but I have a feeling it'll only get better each episode so not too disappointed

I thought he was really good, and I agree, I think his performance will get stronger with each episode.

To be honest no one's acting on this show has been "good" so far. The characters haven't been developed enough for the audience to care and for them to give strong emotions. I love Michael, Steve, and most of the actors in this show but I wasn't impressed with anyone except Michael Stuhlbar. I'm hoping for a better impression in the upcoming episodes.

Michael Pitt was very good in Boardwalk Empire...I thought they all were. Who cares anyway? It's a great show, why analyze it to death? Why not just enjoy it?

Well it's a discussion board. What else should people do on a discussion board? If all anyone does is praise and cheer the show it's no longer a discussion board, it's a fan page. lol.

I think for only being two seasons in, it's a good show so far and I think the actors are doing a decent job building on the characters. We'll see how the rest plays out.

That's an interesting point. I had kind of thought that others had termed him a war hero, but that he had a hard time seeing anything heroic in the gruesome reality of war. I also figured him for a more soft spoken intellectual type, that because of his experiences in war, has be come capable of, or desensitized, to bloodshed and brutality.

Either way, he's become one of my favorite characters on the show.

btw. this is the first and only season thus far of Boardwalk. Also to the guy that thinks he looks too young to be a war hero...how old do you think most recruits are? 18, 19, 20...
