They fired and killed him off Boardwalk for rumors of both reasons and now he's being replaced, by a very talented British actor, on Hannibal. It's not like he's making blockbusters or working on a movie with A list directors to bow out of his role! So either he has issues or a horrible manager/agent guiding him in the wrong direction.
shareWell...in all fairness to him, he was filming movies with Kevin Costner and John Travolta. That one movie with Costner has a lot of stars in it, like Gary Oldman. Maybe that's why he decided not to continue filming Hannibal.
I don't know how long you have been following his career, but Michael is known for choosing projects that have artistic value over monetary. This wouldn't be the first time that Pitt has turned down roles that could have made him a lot of money, and just stuck to indies.
However, there might be some truth to the rumors. The guy who started them on 4chan has provided proof that he works on the show. He was even right about Boardwalk Empire's end. So Pitt may have been a problem on BE set. I also think it's safe to say that he has substance abuse issues. Based on some of the photos I've seen, as well as some of the interviews he's done, he looked and acted as if he was high.
So you never know...Michael probably quit Hannibal because he didn't want to have an attitude explosion on that set, or risk his drug habits getting in the way of his reputation there.
Bryan and Michael already told that there is a scheduling problem because there are movie projects of Michael .
also he does not play in mainstream movies,it is not a new thing,actually he worked with legend directors like Gus Van Sant,Michael Haneke ,Bernardo Bertolucci.
he refused to play in movies for 3 years after he played in Funny Games.
Michael is doing movies for art,not for fame and money and he wil play the lead role in a new movie with Isabelle Huppert .
he is working with really good people in really good movies,the thing is he is not a Hollywood type actor .
i would believe all those rumors if i never see him with BE crew this year,even Scorsese did a small job with him in 2012.
Maybe he is tired of playing the same role on Hannibal. Playing the same character can get tedious.
