Terrance Winter officially stated that both him and Pitt agreed that it was the best decision to kill Jimmy Darmody off. He said that he was planning on finishing the character's storyline in season 2 from the get go.

However, the rumor has it that Pitt was being difficult on set. According to some unidentified sources, he was showing up late, not coorporating and being just flat out rude. He was costing the production too much money so, they decided to write him off.

Obviously, I wasn't there so I don't know which side is true. But I do think there might be some truth to Pitt being difficult on set. The way they killed off his character felt so rushed. Some people also mention on the B.E. boards that they read articles, b4 season 2 started, that Jimmy was suppose to join anarchist groups. He was also suppose to end up in Chicago as a peace treaty.

I dunno, all I can say is that if he was fired for being unprofessional, then let's hope that he'll learn from it. He is such wonderful talent, I would love to see more from him.

ugh I wish michael could have been a bit more professional. I would have loved to have seen what went down between him and Nucky in season 3 and just what happened to his character in general. Its bloody annoying. I really like how he died, how he left the show, but I would have liked it to happen a few more seasons along. It totally felt rushed. >:(
Michael needs to get off the drugs, or whatever he is supposedly doing.

There seems to be a lot of misinformation here. It was never "written" that Jimmy would die in Season 2. Jimmy was supposed to continue on (as another poster wrote) and do some "damage control" for Nucky.

Even though it's not a popular rumor, it was also said that in the final season Jimmy finds out that Nucky is really his father, and the reason why Nucky helped him and his mother for years. I personally think this could be true. Nucky is not one to be compassionate for no reason. He really could have cared less about what he promised to the Commodore or to himself unless it benefited him.

The shift in the script was intentional to get rid of Pitt. I don't know what crazy things he was doing, if any.

I mean Monroe and many other actors are often "late" or "sick", etc and these are things that are "endured" in the movie business to a point. (Too bad that use "middle class working people" don't get the same treatment.

There are serious issues surrounding the Pitt issue and BWE, however, none of us will ever know the real truth.

ughhh I totally wanted Nucky to be his Father. I was hoping for some big shocking twist near the end. Bummer. Stupid Michael *grumbles*

The whole project may have been too mainstream for him.
