#1 on starmeter?!

i was looking at the IMDB starmeter thingy and i gotta say that its pretty lame and dumb lol.

i guess personally i dont follow enough celebrity news to truly get how much hype a certain celeb has at any given moment, but personally i only know Rosamund Pike from jack Ryan and nothing else.

i mean, i would think jennifer lawrence would be up there higher than she is. She seems to be all the rage these days.

I think the starmeter is complete fail lol. It should take into account generalized popularity/hype of celebrities, or at least explain the explosion of hype a certain celeb is currently getting to deserve such a high starmeter ranking.

They should have the hollywood elite basically solidified in high level ranking on starmeter just because they are still stars. Even making starmeter go up with big box office numbers and/or favourable critic reviews (that are widely accepted).

At this point, it feels like some sort of personal perspective for the starmeter rankings rather than a legit algorithm that takes into account past hype, so celebrities that obviously still have status arent pushed to crazy low starmeter levels.

The starmeter is organized by who currently has the highest amount of views on their profile. If someone has died, starred in a popular movie, or made a public fool of the,selves they'll likely be at #1 for a while. Pike is now at #1 because of her performance in Gone Girl which was just released. Gone Girl is also currently #1 on imdb's moviemeter and is a great film btw.

There is no "personal perspective" in the Starmeter as far as I know. There are thousands of actors ranked in the Starmeter so it's undoubtedly an algorithm. Rosamund is the female lead in a hit film (Gone Girl) and has a lot of buzz so she is at the top of the list. Lesser known actors in big films often rank well when the movies come out.

I was really shocked as well. She starred in Jack Reacher not Jack Ryan.

Rosie deserves it.

She's done some great character roles in the past and she stole my heart in Barney's Version. So it was somewhat off putting when Fincher tossed his curveball half way through Gone Girl.

The starmeter doesn't take into account fan passion. If so, considering the rabid nature of Benedict Cumberbatch fans, he should be No.1. And yet he's always trailing his long time mate Tom Hardy.
