She probably made more money for that than most middle class US citizens make in 10 years. That's why.
Money is money and if nothing better is on the table....
She's had kind of weird career, with both big successes and a lot of weird misses.
I don't think she ever quite made "leading lady" blockbuster status, so maybe Lost in Space was more about a juicy paycheck than anything else. I figure she probably made $2 million between the two seasons, maybe more.
What's kind of strange about her is she's had some high profile successful exposure -- she was a big recurring character in Deadwood, same with House of Cards (before the Spacey collapse), and a season on Goliath (lower profile, but a better show with a good cast) -- but she seems to bounce around a lot, a season here, a season there.
I think she's pretty, but she's not Hollywood bombshell material, maybe that's kept her out of the top level leading lady category and more in supporting roles.
Work is work sometimes.
shareShe's been in a lot of stuff and she is a very good actor. She is also not so super-modelishly attractive that she is distracting from her role, but she has a beauty that transmits through the screen. I'd much rather see women like her on the screen than bombshells.
shareYeah, I think of her as being "complexly beautiful" -- she's attractive, but not in the conventional way many leading actresses are. And there's definitely a place for actresses who aren't just bombshells, I think there's a lot of roles super attractive women just aren't as credible in. Molly Parker certainly has grabbed some of them, Alma Garret on Deadwood and Jackie Sharp on House of Cards.
The challenge being there are some actresses who manage to be bombshell good looking *and* superb actresses, and it can keep the Molly Parkers toiling in supporting roles.
