Outside factors influencing the perception. Instead of taking each movie at face value, people get all hot and horny based on the names attached to the project.
I'd add Kubrick to that list (not a comment on the merits or otherwise of the filmmakers).

These dudes have all made some good movies but they've also had some duds. It is what it is, you can't hit a home run every time, but they have some diehard fans who trip over themselves trying to praise everything they've done.
It's basically predetermined. You know these dudes will love the movie before it's even out.
He's a great director and I enjoy his movies immensely.
I also enjoy Kubrick, Tarantino and Speilberg among others.
I wouldn't rate all of their movies a 10/10 however.
Just because someone enjoys the work of these directors doesn't make them a "fanboy".
