First time you experienced Mr Nighy?

I have to admit I am a latecomer to the world of Bill Nighy. The first role I saw him in, or remember seeing him in, was 'Love Actually'. He so rocked in that role and from then on if I saw a movie with him in it I tried to make sure I saw it.

I'm am avid vampireophile and watch pretty much every vampire movie I come across, and loveloveloved him as Victor in Underworld.

Anyway, after watching him in several movies, now when I see him as a character that is like "Davey Jones", where you might not be able to discern a person's paramount features that make them easily recognizable, I can spot him right off the bat. His voice, character, and movements are as signature as a Jimmy Page riff and a Van Gogh painting. Spectacular.

I think, nearly all of us are latecomers. I saw him first in Blow Dry, started to like him in Love Actually and lost my heart in Still Crazy. (It's still somewhere in the band's tourbus in a chest - my heart, that is) Though I found out some time ago that I obvisouly already liked im in the Eighties. He had a minor role in Little Lord Fauntleroy, and I remember that I liked that fit young officer in that one scene. Imagine my surprise when I found out that was him. *lol*

As a vampire lover:

Which blonde wearing a dark coat vampire would you prefer: Viktor or Buffy's Spike? (not to be taken sooo seriously) ;o)

In this case I could get jealous, cause all of those great films he made will be new to you if you'll watch them. :o)

Love Actually was the first time I remember seeing him. He was so funny.

I've just seen Notes on a Scandal where he has a dramatic role, and he is excellent in that film.

Nighy's overrated. He's bordering on annoying.

reply

Nonsense. He is a great character actor and steals just about every scene he's in. Every role has depth and life, even the dead characters burn with intensity (and maybe that, the force of it, is what you dislike about his acting).
