More accurately, one tree hill is nothing without him. When you've got an entire show dependent on you, it can't be that hard to find movie rules.

American television's been doing that for a long time. It's just greedy people that don't want to let go of what they think is a good thing. There are certain shows that cling to their main original cast, but a lot of shows - especially on channels like the CW - don't care much for the original cast and will continue regardless.

And Skins has plausible reasons for replacing the cast. It was created to focus on high school aged children, so once those children graduate...what's the point?
