shareI agree, I'm surprised you never mentioned A Walk to Remember because to me that role proved she had acting chops and is the movie most people recognize her from. Critics called the movie cheesy, personally I think she made the character Jamie Sullivan. She made her someone who felt real and the role could have easily been butchered by some hammy hack.
It's a shame that she has been doing nothing but romcoms for the past 4 years because she definitely deserves better.
But her next project is Falling Slowly which is a supernatural thriller. It sounds very cliche but the writer and director was responsible for the hit Buried so I have higher hopes because of that.

It is such a shame her career in movies never lifted off. When I first saw A Walk to Remember in 2003 I really fell in love with it. I watched it a lot of times. The movie is so charming and Mandy and Shane really clicked. Mandy's acting was really impressive and then I had high hopes for her career. The following movies were very enjoyable (Saved, Chasing Liberty, How to Deal), but it was not at the same level as A Walk to Remember. But the last years the movies are getting worse (Because I said So, License to Wed). And I think she is not getting the roles anymore. Only direct to dvd romcoms. She deserves much better, but I guess she made the wrong choices. I think she should have chose more dramatic roles. She is a good enough actress, I cried my eyes out in A Walk to Remember. She is a very talented woman.
shareWell with Tangled last year, I think she still has some chances, I'm glad she has publicly denounced her rom-com past and said that she can't take anything creatively from it anymore. It shows that she at least cares. I'm also glad that she did Grey's Anatomy because it shows she's not snobby to doing a bit of T.V to stay relevant and it was great because she had a dramatic role in the season finale.

I'd say that she's a better actress than a singer. Not that I think she's a bad singer or anything; it's just that the songs from the big point in her singing career were such generic pop.
