A roundup of all of Lea Michele's former co-stars who've spoken out against her

Glee alum Samantha Ware isn't the only former co-star of Michele's who's experienced her bad behavior. Michele's co-stars from Glee, The Mayor, Scream Queens and Spring Awakening have all indicated that they've had issues with her. For instance, Glee's Amber Riley said in an interview with Essence's Danielle Young: “I’m not going to say that Lea Michele is racist. That’s not what I’m saying. That was the assumption because of what’s going on right now in the world and it happened toward a Black person. I’m not going to say that she’s racist. She’s also pregnant and I think that everyone needs to chill. Y’all dragged her for a couple of days. But at the same time, in my inbox there are a lot of Black actors and actresses telling me their stories and letting me know they have dealt with the same things on set, being terrorized by the white girls that are the leads of the show." Yvette Nicole Brown, who worked with Michele on The Mayor, said she could relate to Ware's original tweet saying Michele "MADE MY FIRST TELEVISON GIG A LIVING HELL." “I felt every one of those capital letters," Brown tweeted. “Every person on a set matters. Every person on a set deserves respect. And it is the responsibility of every series regular to make every person who visits their home feel welcome. This dismissive attitude is what’s wrong in Hollywood and the world.”

The only thing I can't figure out is if she's racist or just a diva. Because nothing being said about her is specifically racist - she seems not to get along with many of her co-stars, whatever their ethnicity.

reply

Probably just a bitch, like Constance Wu or Katherine Heigl.

reply

I've never understood why Heigl gets so much crap. As for Constance Wu, never heard a bad word against her till now. What's the story?

reply

Between Crazy Rich Asians and Hustlers, rumors started circulating about her being a diva.

reply

Just from a cursory glance, these rumours seem pretty thin and sketchy. Just like the rumours that haunted Heigl - despite directors coming to her defense at the time they were circulating. I hope they don't irreparably damage Wu's career the way Heigl's was damaged.

I find it hard to believe directors or studios base casting choices on tabloid fodder. Those folks are privy to stuff we never hear about. If Heigl's career was damaged by her reputation, it wasn't because of rumor, it would have come from inside sources. Directors might say Heigl was a sweetheart to the public, but that actually means little.

On the other side, Heigl is very beautiful (not like her peak though) and is an OK actress. There isn't a role she's done that would make me say that she was the perfect choice and the film would have been diminished with another actor in that same role.

But unless an actor is supremely perfect for a role, the actor won't be cast if they come with baggage.

reply

I gotta disagree with that. We all know that actors with baggage get many second chances in Hollywood. How else did Charlie Sheen ever have a career? I also think that rumours can do a lot to an actor's career - I mean, look at Johnny Depp.

Exactly.
