HEY! I won't hear anything bad said about this guy. My father is from Bristol, as Merchant is, so they both have the distinct accent, and Merchant has gone on to all manner of famous roles, from my experience most memorably as Wheatley from Portal 2 (videogame).
Yes, he does look distinctive with his eyes, but it works well for him in his more unusual roles in Logan and as a Gestapo officer in Jojo Rabbit. You can't deny that he stands out!
