Agent character outstays his welcome

Merchant's character was the best thing in Extras when he first showed up. He guaranteed at least a couple of laughs per episode, which is more than the rest of the show combined sometimes. Season 2 episode 1 - Call time on this dire show.

He is certainly great in Extras.
Hmmmmm....I'm not sure I agree
with your critique of the show.
To me, it is always very funny.

I disagree with JohnKoliba, but I never saw the first series. Of the three episodes shown of the second series, Darren Lamb is the definite stand-out character. Part-Gareth Keenan, part-League Of Gentlemen, he's just about weird enough to be believable. And he's very funny.

To be fair in the third episode he had a few moments that made me laugh.

His character is almost the best thing about the show. Because to me the plot always seems very forced and unrealistic I find his character's stupidity to be the most realistic thing about the show.

I agree, he saves the show.

One of the funniest bits in the entire series is his problem with the toilet during his date with Maggie.
