i noticed a trend in his radio shows (i've heard everything from bbc radio to xfm to the podcasts)- stephen merchant loves to insult fat people and talk about how unattractive they are or how gluttonous they are. how odd that someone who is so outside the physical norm would have such disdain for others outside that norm- and since his best friend and business partner is quite portly!

sharei think it's pretty obvious that he does- he isn't usually making jokes when he says it, it's more in the context of casual complaining about fat people he sees on airplanes or in restaurants, or making rude comments about female celebrities' appearances.
