i'm glad he lost weight

I've only recently discovered the show in syndicated re-runs, and I've been wondering about the weight gain. He looked pretty buff in the first episodes I saw, and I thought when he got blobby he might have been wearing a fat suit. But the Jersey Shore episode, in which he is shirtless in one scene, indicate he really had gotten blubbery. Was that deliberate, for a story arc about Mac getting fat? Or do you think Rob McE. just got fat in real life so they wrote his weight gain into the episodes?

The whole Mac getting fat was a joke. He gained weight just for that season. The joke is the gang all said they would get fat to make fun of someone. I can't remember who the joke was on. The rest of the guys decided not to put on the weight and never told Mac who continued to gain the weight.

I didn't think he was as funny overweight as he was normal weight.

I did notice that mac looked buff during the first few seasons and he always talked about working out on the show

I read once that he thought it was funny to watch shows like Friends where the cast always look better over each successful season instead of the other way round. So he put it on for the one season but got extremely unhealthy doing it
