Ethnicity?

This may sound strange but I was a huge fan of hers back in the day, circle FD3 and Black Christmas but I am just now seeing that she added her birth name (Yan-Kay) to her profile. Since when and why?

I know I am not alone in finding out she is half Asian (apparently her father is Asian). I would have never guessed it back then. However I am looking at recent photos and see some Asian in her (her eyes). I am not mad, just slightly disappointed and feel like everything I’ve been told is a lie.

I wonder when she was young on the come up, was she told to wear different eye makeup, to make her look more white then Asian. I am not blaming her as I think it helped further her career. Looking at her discography it seemed like all her roles were portrayed as a white person (simply by looking at the names).

All in all I wish her the best on her future endeavours!

Yan-Kay means American.

Felis Sapien.

There are plenty of biracial people who look white. Her race isn't important.

I disagree. In Hollywood it is very important. Think about it. If she looked more Asian than white, does her career pan out the same or worse??

reply

not really

reply

Not according to studios these days. To them, white ain’t right.
