She was a producer for John Wick

This is one of the more puzzling bits of movie info I've come across. How and why was she involved with the first John Wick movie? I really only know her from her work on Desperate Housewives, and she comes across as... I don't know how else to put this, a normal (albeit extremely gorgeous) woman. So I don't understand how she got involved as a producer on a hyper-violent action film whose target audience is men. Women usually are not interested in watching these sorts of movies, let alone being involved in producing them. And why did she not return for any of the sequels?

I guess she was bored and wanted to do something different.

So she just funded the film but wasn't hands on or involved in the creative process? That's just as confusing considering she didn't even meet the creators. Thanks the info, anyway.
