Excellent in Ugly Betty

Finally, a fellow fan has mentioned Judith Light's role as Daniel's mother, Claire Meade. She plays the role so convincingly that even her eyes reflect the emotional and chemical dependency that is characteristic of an alcoholic. In my estimation, Judith is an exteremely talented, yet underated actress who humbly steals the spotlight in every scene in which she appears. Ms. Light should be the next recurring cast memeber to be credited as a series regular, as she illuminates yet another show with a rather predictable plot.

She's also outstanding in the episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit I've been catching up with.

Judith Light routinely gives performances that, were they in another medium, would earn her Oscars.

It is ridiculous that we do not see more of her. She is a fine actress...especially demonstrated in Wit...for those who saw, you know what I am talking about.

Claire Meade is a great role for her, but will someone give this woman her own starring role!

Agree she's absolutely brilliant portraying an alcoholic, very subtle and convincing in so many ways. Great comedic talent as well, excellent sense of timing. Am surprised I have never seen her before.

I love her in Ugly Betty, the casting directors of this show really knew what they were doing when they hired all the brilliant actors in this ensemble, they can all be hilarious but also very sincere, it's the best show on television thanks in no small part to Judith herself, a goddess and brilliant actor, and I agree with another poster here that if any of her performances were in film she would have won an Oscar, she better win an Emmy for ugly betty!

She actually the only reason I watch that show.

she is very funny! she adds a very ab-fab element to Ugly Betty.
