oscar nomination for Fury?

Yes or no? What do you think? I think he deserves at least a nomination

reply

For me, it's a big YES.

Will he get one? I have no idea, I go to a party every year where we can win a fake oscar trophy for filling out the most accurate ballot and I always come in last.

Should he get one? For sure, he should certainly be nominated I think, it's tied for best performance I've seen by a male all year (The other being Raphaël Personnaz in The Gate, which hasn't been released in the United States so I don't think it will even qualify for such awards). And the only performance I've seen that was better overall was Jennifer Connelly in Shelter. This might not actually be the case but it feels like young men don't get nominated or win as much as young women do (but that is Hollywood, where everything is filled with old dudes and young ladies)
Logan is one of the best of his generation, if he doesn't get an oscar nom this year he'll get one eventually.

Absolutely, his performance -- a very demanding one, the most so in the film -- is a revelation.

It was first time in years that I've been sold by his performance. He's been very inconsistent with his acting in the past films and you feel that he's acting instead of being natural. Hoping for a Supporting nomination for him.

Well, Halfblood Camper, consider the quality of most of the films that have come his way previously. Apart from "Perks" and to a more limited extent "3:10", they didn't demand much, and a more expansive effort on his part in those others wouldn't have made that much difference, anyway. Actors are beholden to the chances they're given, and given this great chance, he ran with it.

HELL NO! He ruined the movie!
