Kevin Fiege/Disney doesn't want him. He's not showy enough off the set.

Rumors are flinging that Sony is seriously considering him, but Disney and head of Marvel Kevin Fiege simply are not interested in him just for the fact that he isn't flamboyant and doesn't show off like Robert Downy Jr and Chris Hemsworth.

You know, they are going to look like major horse's asses if he gets picked up by the likes of DC and actually gets an oscar nod (DC is the only one to have gotten an oscar win for a comic book movie role, if it happened once, it can happen again.)

If he isn't right for the part, he isn't right for the part. That's something that gets determined in the audition process. And if he doesn't get it, then the only ones who will look like major horse's asses are the ones who thought that Logan was shoo-in for the part and that they wouldn't find anyone better for it. It's not about whether DC picks him up and/or he gets an Oscar nod, which, like you said, happened only once for a DC movie, and the actor in question disappeared into his part and got additional buzz because he unfortunately died before the film's release.
