"Kim Sung Su may be most well known internationally for his 2001 period epic Musa, but the director got his start in a grittier genre, making a splash in the 1990s with films about urban youth and alienation. From Lee Man Hee to Lee Jang Ho to Bae Chang Ho, angry youth films have a special place in Korean cinema, and Kim Sung Su can be considered the pioneer of 90s angry youth cinema. Kim helped to bring the genre into the mainstream with works like City of the Rising Sun, Beat, and his brilliant 1995 debut feature, Run Away. An essential title of the genre, Run Away also happens to star top actor Lee Byung Hun (A Bittersweet Life), in one of his earliest film roles.

Video game producer Lee Dong Ho (Lee Byung Hun) and freelance artist Choi Mi Ran (Lee Kyung Young) are both young, ambitious people who are passionate about their life and work. They meet by chance one night on the road, and end up spending the night together. On their way home, they witness a gang-related murder, and from that day on their lives take a dramatic turn as they become the perpetrators' next targets."
