Here is some interesting news, I just brought and finished seeing Enter the Dragon on Blu-Ray and it looks freaking awesome like it was just filmed a year ago. I'm a big fan of Bruce Lee since I was a kid and I knew his son Brandon Lee when I lived in Oakland (he lived a few blocks away from me) before his death. And then to hear this, WTF...Why fix something that aint broken.

Variety is reporting that Warner Independent Pictures has set "The Shield" exec producer Kurt Sutter to write and make his feature directing debut on "Awaken the Dragon."

Noir-style remake of "Enter the Dragon," the 1973 martial arts classic that made Bruce Lee a global star, will be produced by John Wells, Fred Weintraub and Paul Heller.

John Wells Prods. is based on the Warner lot, and Weintraub and Heller were producers of the original WB-distributed film.

Sutter said he's writing "Awaken the Dragon" as a contemporized drama about a lone FBI agent who pursues a rogue Shaolin monk into the bloody world of underground martial arts fight clubs.

Original film starred Lee as a martial artist who's drafted by law enforcement to participate in a martial arts tournament and infiltrate a drug smuggling operation run from the host's heavily guarded island.

"I'm a huge noir fan, and this plot lends itself to the film I want to make," Sutter said. "I wanted to set it in these underground fight clubs where the action is really raw and expose the brutality of Shaolin kung fu. This will be more 'Raging Bull' than 'Crouching Tiger' in its viciousness."

Sutter will look to discover a fight star in the role of the monk and cast an established American actor to play the FBI agent.

as usual, Chele Belle

I know. I was posting to suggest to FANS what a great casting idea it would be if LBH was hired for the role. Sorry if my posting lead to confusion. Toodles.

Are you kidding me! DO NOT REMAKE THIS MOVIE! This is a legacy to THE greatest martial artist of our time. mark my words, the backlash on this will be HUGE

reply

Seriously! What's with this scuzzy bankrupt society where nothing is left sacred? First Seven Samurai and now this? Damn it. Why this? Why not Game of Death? That at least was never completed properly and could stand to be remade.

reply

Yeah most of the Bruce Lee movies should never be remade or re-whatever except Game of Death as they turned it into something that didn't even resemble Bruce's idea or concept.
