Hugh Laurie would be the PERFECT Professor Higgins

(sorry for my English) He is British, he can sing, he can dance, he DEFINITELY has the image thanks to House M.D., and now that his show is coming to an end, he could FINALLY have time for features...and IF he is indeed interested in features, Professor Higgins could be the excellent transition from TV-stardom...his fans would be still interested, he would be still required to deliver the 'grumpy elitist' character, only this time around it would be in a classic, timeless story, adapted by his friend, Emma Thompson. This could be his role of a lifetime...I can't think of anyone better for the part.

That would be perfect

That would be awesome!

Since someone mentioned singing and dancing, I assume we are talking about Lerner's "My Fair Lady" and not Shaw's "Pygmalion". Why does it require adaptation by Emma Thompson? Is the story being updated from 1912 to 2012?

Of course, ironically, it was Robert Sean Leonard who portrayed Higgins in a couple of productions of Pygmalion. I would have loved to see him in the musical version; he has a very nice singing voice.

But I agree…HL would rock in either the musical or non-musical versions.
