re-watching House MD.....Man I love this guy, what else is good with him
seriously.....dude is my favorite actor. Love him in House, he's got a long filmography, anything that stands out as much as House MD that I'd love?

shareCheck out 'A bit of Fry and Laurie' with Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie...
These pretzels are making me THIRSTY...
For comedy: Jeeves and Wooster, Blackadder Seasons 3 & 4. Comedy/Drama: 40 Something, Peter's Friends. Drama: Flight of the Phoenix, All or Nothing at All. Romance: Girl from Rio.
That should get you started.
I don't think the previous stuff Hugh did will translate
His stuff was VERY English
All the more impressive that he pulled off being "an American"
Small part, but probably his most "House"-like role in a British production is as Mr. Palmer in "Sense & Sensibility." Very sarcastic and droll. People should see that movie anyway because it's fantastic.
"Jeeves & Wooster" is nothing short of delightful.
"A Bit of Fry & Laurie" - Has never failed to NOT make me laugh after over 20 years of watching it.
"Blackadder" -- S2 he appears in a couple of episodes but shines in S3 & 4.
"MI-5" was a great show and he had a couple of guest starring parts that were fantastic.
I loved "Peter's Friends" and make sure to re-watch again every few years. "Maybe Baby" should have been better than it was, but the book it was based on had some real problems, too. Still, for a fan, it is fun to check out.
It wasn't a huge role, but I did like him in "Street Kings" if gang/crime movies are your thing. If you've got kids around, "Stuart Little", "101 Dalmations" "Monsters v. Aliens" (v.o) and "Valiant" (v.o.) are, of course, kind of fun.
If you go way back, it's worth tracking down the video from the Cambridge Footlights Review. He's so unbelievably young looking, but he and Stephen Fry are absolutely hysterical in it. It's no wonder they both went on to be so successful.
I'm really, really looking forward to "Tomorrowland."
He had a pretty decent role in a movie called Cousin Bette. The character's personality and eventual injury are very reminiscent of House.
Fraaaank. FRANK! Get my jean bin. Susie wants my jeans.
No she doesnt.

This was in my Netflix queue forever but seems to have been removed from the digital service so it still remains one of the few Hugh titles I've not seen.
But...but..."The Night Manager" sounds like it has so much promise to it that I'm anxious for an announcement of when AMC will finally air it.
I dont have netflix. I bought the dvd on ebay for about 5 bucks. It's really worth seeking it out.
The good thing is that it's a good movie outside of Hugh's role. I confess that i got it just because i'm a hugh fan, but i really enjoyed the movie overall.
Another really good movie he was in is The Young Visiters. I really liked this story as well. The acting was very good. And i think i read that the story was written by a young girl.

Yes, I remember seeing that back in the day at some point. What I remember most about it was the fact that I thought to myself, "Yup, this was written by a 9-year-old girl."
I don't think I'd recommend it to anyone. But another poster brought up "All Or Nothing At All" and that DVD set is certainly worth tracking down. Good performance, that.
