He wouldn't even give a fan a hug at the airport...

watching the latest Katersoneseven vlog on youtube, while her and Cory (SMPfilms) were at the airport they run into Hugh Laurie waiting on the same flight.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMKbleXNZQ0 at 7:08 of the video.

So being a fan of him she just went up and asked him nicely if she could have a hug, he flat out says no.

Not sure why he wouldn't even give her a hug.

Maybee because there are too many lunatics out there who would do something stupid or make a false claim like he groped her. I some stranger came up to you and wanted a hug because they liked your hat, wouldn't you say no?

Some celebrities crave attention , some do not. Either way, they are real people, with real emeotions and their personal space should be respected.

LOOOOL why would he want to hug some random girl at the airport? People can be so shameless sometimes.

I love Katers, but just going up to someone and saying flat out "Can I just hug you" pointing a camera at herself is a little creepy, especially if he wasn't aware of what a vlogger is. She should have approached him a bit more professionally, without the camera, and introduced herself, complimented his work etc. THEN maybe ask for a hug if you think he is up for it. If he's stand offish, probably not a good idea. Also you never know, he may have had a bad day, or maybe just wasn't in the mood for publicity. I think, if I remember correctly, he was wearing a cap, so that's probably the reason. The guy has his right to privacy and alone-time.

Never heard of this kat person, so basically she's just some random person in an airport who wants to hug someone. How weird is she? And who is cory? Are these supposed to be some entertainment reporter people or just some bloggers who are trying to become as famous as the celebrities they follow around?

And since when is someone obligated to accommodate every weird request that comes along just because they're on tv? I know how i'd react if some random person came up to me in an airport (or anywhere) and wanted a hug. No thank you.

No, never heard of her either. I totally agree with you: in which twisted reality does she live that it's okay to demand hugs from perfect strangers? I guess some people think they know him and that he's their friend because they see him on tv or something.

She 's lucky he was so perfectly polite about it if you ask me :D. I certainly wouldn't have been if it had been me.

Cory is one of the highest subscribed person on Youtube (over 500k+ people ).

They aren't celebrity gossip reporters or anything. Just make random videos, do daily vlogs (like Shaytards, etc) and things. Kate (the girl) is his friend and works with him/does her own vlogs and things.

They were both just huge fans of his and it was the first Celebrity that she saw since moving to the US from England.

Part of being a Celebrity is interacting with fans, rather it's signing autographs, posing for pictures, etc. She didn't demand a hug or be mean about anything, just politely asked him if she could have a hug.

I understand celebs want privacy, but when a fan knows you and for many people the first time they meet/interact with someone famous is big, it's just a simple hug. I don't see how a simple hug with her woulda made some huge difference, and it was something that could have been a huge deal for her in her lifetime, many years from know that she'd remember meeting a fellow Englander as her first celeb and getting a hug. Instead she has him say "no" and walks away.

To me, it just seemed like a dick move to do to a fan, one who wasn't demanding, or making a scene out of you (many fans will run up to celebs and scream who they are, ask them for autographs, holler their name, and cause other people to notice, etc).

If they are huge fans of his, as you say, then they'd know that he doesn't like being ambushed by fans. Hugh Laurie is an actor/musician/writer, the fame that comes with that is an unfortunate side effect in his eyes (his words!) which he would rather do without.

Look, if she wasn't demanding anything, there should be no problem with him simply saying 'no'. I'm sure she'll get over it.

Exactly. He's not the typical red carpet celebrity who is out looking for attention. If she wants a hug, she should track down a kardashian.

If you're going to ask permission, then you should expect that some people like their privacy and don't feel they have to share themselves with every random person who comes along. If she asked for an autograph and he declined, then so be it.

I could see if he was at a fan meet and greet, but they guy is travelling from one job to another. I read an interview with him one time where the interviewer wrote how they were trying to have this meeting and some woman kept coming up and interrupting them because she wanted to talk to Hugh. He was gracious but kept trying to ignore and discourage her. They finally had to call security to ask her to go away.

And then there are the pictures some paparazzi took of him driving to work. Can you imagine trying to drive in traffic with another car next to you and in front of you with a guy hanging out the window taking your picture.

It seems it never ends, so i think he has every right, when given the oppportunity, to not have to deal with pushy people.
