shareMick by far. Beyonce has sold a fraction of MJ's total, which speaks volumes given that records are now delivered to electronic devices at the touch of a button. People had to take return bus journeys into the city, in the cold wind and rain, to buy Jackson's records. He was a true cultural phenomenon.

shareMaybe another factor is MJ's peak was in the 1980s which was pre-internet. So, there was an aura of mystery he had about him and information wasn't as readily available as is now. He rarely did interviews back then. So, people were wanting to know more about him and went buy his records.
Basically, people want what they don't know or can't have. But nowdays with social media, everything is available and less of a "mystery". You know what I mean?
Also, no one buys physical records anymore.

I agree with this completely! The only social media I do is this site and youtube. I am not interested in tweeter and instagram and all that. I still play my old records on my new record player 😁 But in my own humble opinion, I have not seen anyone come close to Michael Jackson in the music industry.
