Haven't seen Chronicle yet (or Red Tails for that matter, horrible fan I know) but what age bracket are they going for with The Avengers?
Chiwe would have the advantage in that regard, I would think. It would be a bit awkward if all the other guys were older. For some reason I'm thinking they won't have a young black panther. I could see Michael maybe pulling it off but the only part that worries me...I don't know he could build up...but the accent. Hard call.
I'm a Chiwe fan as well and I could get behind him as BP, but somehow he isn't my first choice. Since I watched that Black Panther series I can't picture anyone but Djimon. I know that's not really possible as they likely will set him up for his own movie. And possibly (not really counting on it) more BP movies. So they would want a younger guy to grow into the series. I like the idea of an unknown.
I definitely think MBJ has the acting skills, the presence, could maybe bulk up and he'd just have to rise to the occasion on the voice. Its not just the accent, which Chiwe can do, his problem is consistency. It's also having the right sound. They need someone with a great voice, someone to transform and BE Black Panther. If the voice was good with only a slight accent, I personally wouldn't mind. But I'm not a hardcore fan of Black Panther.
Regardless I'd support either of them in this role but I'm not sure either is a perfect fit. Sure would like to see him get a shot at such an opportunity.
Rest in Peace Johnny Otis, Etta James, a Rhythm & Blues legend & a true artist you will be missed.
