How is he the highest paid actor?

Is that a joke? I guess being the highest paid actor doesn't necessarily make one the most popular because it seems everytime the name Dwayne Johnson is brouhgt up it's more often with a smirk or as a joke than something to be taken seriously. His movies are mostly terrible and at best get mediocre reviews. They may get high grossings but then action movies have an entrenched audience that will keep coming back no matter how bad they suck. I’m thinking his total gross has to include pay from theatrical wrestling and other endorsement deal type stuff too, not just movie ticket sales, then it’s all just lumped together as one figure that’s quoted by some moronic pop news source that doesn’t do one shred of analysis. I don’t see how else he could be the highest paid actor. I mean I wouldn’t have thought pop culture went that far down the drain anyway. No wonder everyone is detaching and connecting. Any thoughts?

He is the highest paid actor because his films made the most money all over the world for the last few years, hence why he is the biggest box office star in the world right now!

He's never really been in anything good. The furious movies are so overrated. Meh.

You've answered your own question by mentioning that he was in a lot of action films including the Fast and the Furious franchise. I'm pretty shocked myself when I heard this the first time. It just goes to show you don't have to have much talent to be the highest paid actor...just as long as your in a lot of action films.

When your movies make over a billion dollars worldwide, who do you think studio heads are going to listen to? The cash register for a guy voted world's number one box-office star and voted People magazine's sexiest man alive! or two dumb non-entities who's opinion doesn't mean $hit!

Yes I was hoping that the studios would listen to us insignificant specks on IMDB.

We're all aware that money matters and what draws, genius. Most of us weren't born yesterday and aware people will still shell out money for a franchise that will have 100 installments in its series.

You pathetic bunch of snobs! just because he makes popular action movies and not high brow art films you simplely dismiss him! shame on you! You could say that about any of the major movie stars working today.
