This girl ruined Growing Pains

GP was one of the best shows back in the 80s, until this chick showed up as a cute annoying kid that suddenly came out of nowhere.

If it was one of the best shows, and then was ruined, I would think it would be for more reasons than Ashley joining the cast.

Were the scripts suddenly poor? Did everyone elsae stop being funny? If not, how could the show be ruined?

She helped this show jump the shark; her acting was exaggerated and over the top; very and annoying and there was no reason to bring her on the show.

She didn't personally have anything to do with ruining the show -- the introduction of her character ruined the show.

I grew up watching "The Brady Bunch" and I've always called what sitcoms do with characters like hers "Cousin Oliver Syndrome." Cousin Oliver was a character introduced on "The Brady Bunch" as the kids were growing up to keep a younger person on the show.

It usually means the show is dying.

I don't think the introduction of any character makes a show die. To blame a little girl for that is what's sad...

Every comedy has it's run, and Growing Pains went out with a bang, and is still one of the best shows to date!

I don't think it was her decision to have the writers write in a new baby for the family. And as for ruining the show, I don't think Chrissy did it. I used to watch this show religiously when I was a kid through early teen. But, as soon as they brought in Leo DiCaprio, I was done. I couldn't stand him or his character. I never thought he was cute either. Though, once Growing Pains was over, and Leo was doing movies, I did like his movies (but I still didn't find him attracive). It's only been in the past 2 or 3 years, that I've noticed him being attractive. But, I've really gone off topic here, so I'll stop typing.

Growing Pains "jumped the shark" when they brought in Leo.
